The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on October 30, 2024, issued a consultation paper on Proposals for REITs and INVITs.
The following has been stated: -
•The consultation paper issued by SEBI aims to gather public feedback on proposals related to REITs, SM REITs, and InvITs.
•The proposal is informed by inputs from various industry groups and recommendations from committees focused on compliance and ease of doing business.
•The consultation is divided into two parts: measures to ease doing business and investor protection measures, covering topics like unit transfers, governance norms, investment reviews, and trustee responsibilities. Detailed proposals are outlined in subsequent sections of the paper.
Comments on the consultation paper may be sent by November 13, 2024.
