The Ministry Of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) on October 29, 2024, issued the Draft Inland Vessels (Fire Fighting Appliances) (First Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Inland Vessels (Fire Fighting Appliances) Rules, 2022.
The following amendment has been stated:
• After clause (d) of rule 2, which states “Definitions”, the following explanation shall be inserted, namely:
“Explanation.-For the purpose of this sub-rule, Gross Tonnage of vessels above 24 meters shall be calculated according to International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships, 1969 whereas Gross Tonnage of vessels less than 24 meters shall be calculated according to Rule 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Tonnage Measurement of Ships) Rules, 1991.”
