Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Communications (MoC) on October 30, 2024, issued the Telecommunications (Amateur Services) Rules, 2024.

The following has been stated namely: -

• No person shall install or operate an amateur station except under and in accordance with the terms and conditions of an Amateur Station Operator Certificate (ASOC) granted under these rules

• The ASOC (General) or the ASOC (Restricted), as the case may be, shall be granted to any person, being a citizen of India who: -

o Is not less than twelve years of age

o Qualifies the examination specified under rule 5 for the grant of an ASOC

• No compensation or refund of fees shall be applicable as a result of any suspension or cancellation of the ASOC for any reason whatsoever, or for any modification, variation, cancellation or revocation of terms and conditions of the ASOC

• This is in supersession of the Indian Wireless Telegraphs (Amateur Service) Rules, 1978

This shall come into force on October 30, 2024.
