The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on November 04, 2024, issued Guidelines for the determination of the processing capacity of e-waste recycler’s by SPCBs/PCCs.
The following has been stated: -
•The guidelines for determining the processing capacity of e-waste recycling facilities require verification of plant machinery, storage, and pollution control equipment by SPCBs/PCCs.
•The capacity is based on the weight of e-waste processed per annum, with separate capacities for recycling and refurbishing operations.
•Recyclers must maintain detailed records of material flow, including metals, plastics, hazardous waste, and other outputs. Additionally, standalone dismantling facilities must be verified and included in the recycler’s CTO, and recyclers are required to have data sanitization systems.
