The Government of Kerala on November 01, 2024, issued the Kerala Forest (Amendment) Bill, 2024, to further amend the Kerala Forest Act, 1961.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In Section 2 definition clause (a) - bark, clause (ba) – fishing, and clause (m) – waste material, shall be inserted.
• Section 29 which states Persons bound to assist Forest Officer and Police Officer, in sub-section (2) the words “two hundred rupees”, shall be substituted with the words “two thousand rupees”.
• Section 32 which states Penalties, the words “one hundred rupees”, shall be substituted with the words “one thousand rupees”.
• Section 40 which states the Penalty for breach of rules made under section 39, in sub-section (1) the words “five hundred rupees”, shall be substituted with the words “five thousand rupees”.
• In section 61A the word “firewood”, shall be substituted with the words and symbols “firewood, bark, sand”.
