The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on November 07, 2024, notified Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 further to amend the Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009.
The following has been stated: -
•In regulation 5 which specifies Conditions to be fulfilled by Customs Cargo Service provider, in sub-regulation (3), for the word "ten", the word "five" shall be substituted.
•In regulation 10 which specifies Approval of appointment of a Customs Cargo Service provider and review, in sub-regulation (2), for the second proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely:-
Provided further that in case of Customs, Cargo Service Provider authorized under Authorised Economic Operator Programme, the approval of appointment under sub-regulation (1) shall be deemed to be extended and remain valid till such time the Authorised Economic Operator authorization is valid and not suspended or revoked in terms of Regulation 12.
They shall come into force on November 07, 2024.
