The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), on November 04, 2024, issued a notification related to Simplified registration for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs).
SEBI’s Master Circular for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) mandates applicants to submit a Common Application Form (CAF) and Annexure with required documents. Following industry feedback, SEBI will now allow certain FPI categories—like funds with pre-registered Investment Managers or sub-funds of already registered master funds—to use an abridged version of the CAF. This version requires only unique fields to be filled, with remaining information auto-populated or disabled, easing the onboarding process. Designated Depository Participants will update the CAF with this data.
These changes are effective three months from the circular date, with system updates to be coordinated by CDSSF in consultation with SEBI.
