The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on November 12, 2024, issued the Meerut Cantonment Board Solid Waste Management Bye-laws, 2024.
This shall come into force from November 12, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Applicability:
o These bye-laws shall apply within the Meerut Cantonment's territorial limits.
• Collection of solid waste:
o In compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, door-to-door collection of segregated solid waste shall be implemented in all areas or wards of the Board, to collect garbage from every house, including slums and informal settlements on a daily basis by integrating the informal door to door collection system with Boards collection system.
o In order to collect garbage from every house, area-wise specific time slot shall be set and published at conspicuous parts of that area and on the website of the Board.
o The time for house-to-house garbage collection shall be set from 6 am to 11 am.
