The Government of Goa on November 14, 2024, issued the Goa Ground Water Regulation Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated:
• If any person/user:
o Contravenes or fails to comply with any of the provisions of this Act or any rules made thereunder, in sinking of any bore well/or
o Obstructs the Ground Water Officer or any other person authorized by him to exercise the powers under this Act, he shall be punishable.
o Fines of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) for first offence and for the second offence and subsequent offence, fine may be extended upto Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees five lakh only) or as decided by the Goa Ground Water Board.
This notification will come into force from November 14, 2024.
