Secretarial ComplianceThe National Stock Exchange (NSE) on November 22, 2024, issued a circular regarding Penalties and penal charges for Margin Violation.

The following has been stated: -

•The NCL Consolidated Circular introduces a penalty structure for margin violations, effective from January 01, 2025. Penalties are levied based on the number of instances of disablement in a calendar month, starting with 0.07% per day for the first violation.

•From the second to the fifth instance, penalties increase to 0.07% per day plus ₹5,000 per instance and further escalate with more instances. After the 10th instance, a daily penalty of 0.07% plus additional charges applies, along with a referral to the Member Committee for further action.

•Its applicable to Commodity Derivatives; Currency Derivatives; Futures & Options; NSE Clearing - Capital Market segment.
