The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on June 12, 2024, notified regarding the control of emission from in-use DG Set by installing a Retrofitting Emission Control Device (RECD) or shifting to a gas-based Generator.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that all establishments in Karnataka shall comply to:
o use of certified RECD for in-use DG sets (61-800 kW, older than 5 years, up to 15 years or 50,000 operational hours), adopt dual fuel systems for DG sets below 800 kW, or shift to gensets meeting GSR 804(E) emission norms of November 3, 2022.
o adopt any suitable Air Pollution Control Device (APCD), strictly subject to compliance to emission standard notified vide G.S.R. 489, dated February 09, 2002, for DG set of more than 800 KW.
