The Government of Jharkhand on October 14, 2024, issued a notification regarding Jharkhand Surface Water Allocation Rules, 2023.
The Water Resources Department has introduced the Rules to streamline surface water allocation from state sources for industrial, municipal, and institutional use. These rules aim to facilitate industrial growth, improve employment opportunities, and contribute to the state's GDP while ensuring ease of doing business (EoDB).
The following has been stated-
•Simplified and rationalized processes for water allocation, tailored to meet the demands of industrialization and urbanization.
•Specific agreement formats:
•Form-A: For industrial and commercial establishments.
•Form-B: For private institutions, municipal corporations, and the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.
•Form-C: For government institutions, municipal bodies, and educational institutions (both private and government).

The approval of the Council of Ministers on the above rule has been received on October 08, 2024.
