The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) on November 25, 2024, issued the Kerala Electricity Supply Code (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2024.
The following have been stated:
• Definition of Electrified areas.—For the purpose of implementing the provisions of the Code “Electrified areas” shall be defined as an area having the distribution mains at respective voltage level within 200 metres from the proposed connection”.
• Relaxation of Regulation 85.—Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (iii) to sub regulation (1) of Regulation 85 of the Code, for releasing new electricity connection in metropolitan areas, the licensee shall provide service connection within a period not exceeding 3 days, after the submission of application complete in all respects, where extension or augmentation of distribution system is not required.
It shall come into force on November 25, 2024.
