Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) on November 29, 2024, issued a notification regarding Regulations on Sugar Stockholding, Release Quotas, and Compliance for December 2024.

The following has been stated: -

•The order mandates sugar mills to maintain their stock of white/refined sugar until December 31, 2024, based on specified limits. 

•Mills that violated stockholding limits in September 2024 will face deductions in their December release quota. 

•They must also integrate their ERP systems with the NSWS portal by December 20, 2024, and submit monthly data via API. Group mills can maintain stock either unit-wise or collectively. 

•Compliance with the Jute Packaging Material Act (20% sugar in jute bags) is also required. Violations will attract penalties under the Essential Commodities Act, of 1955.
