The University Grants Commission (UGC) on November 21, 2024, notified regarding the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
The NEP 2020 emphasizes creating a flexible, multidisciplinary higher education system with a credit-based structure, promoting lifelong learning and multiple entry/exit points. An Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) has been established to digitally store credits earned from recognized Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), allowing for degree awarding based on these credits.
HEIs must upload credit data to the APAAR repository for students, ensuring timely deposit of credits to students' APAAR accounts for transfer and redemption. According to the Ministry of Education's instructions, HEIs are required to upload credit data for the academic years 2021, 2022, and 2023 by December 31, 2024.
For examinations in 2024, credits must be uploaded by June 2025. After these deadlines, no further modifications will be allowed. HEIs are urged to prioritize and complete the credit uploads by the specified deadlines and review their current status to ensure timely data submission.
