Industry Specific ComplianceThe Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) on November 27, 2024, issued the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Demand Side Management) Regulation, 2024.

This shall come into force on November 27, 2024.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The objective of Demand Side Management (DSM) includes lowering the overall cost of electricity, reducing environmental damage, and inducing lasting changes in the market for increased adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

• Regulation 4 provides the provision for assessment of the technical potential for DSM, it states that the Distribution Licensee shall assess the potential for DSM in its supply area for one year before the start of every MYT Control Period.

• Regulation 5 states that the Commission shall establish DSM targets for each Distribution Licensee in the state considering factors such as consumer mix, load profile, and other characteristics when setting the DSM target for the distribution licensee.

• Regulation 6 outlines the constitution of DSM Cell, its roles, and responsibilities.

• Regulation 9 provides the provision for the Commission's review and approval of the DSM Plan, it states that the Distribution Licensee shall submit the DSM Plan to the Commission for approval at least six months before the start date of the MYT Control Period.
