The Lok Sabha on November 02, 2024, introduced the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Section 2 lists various definitions of the terms like coasting trade and coastal waters.
•Section 3 specifies the prohibition of coasting trade.
•Section 4 specifies a Licence for coasting trade.
•Section 5 specifies Suspension, revocation, or modification of the licence.
•It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
