NSE notified regarding the Revision in Expiry Day of Index derivatives contracts

Secretarial ComplianceThe National Stock Exchange (NSE) on November 29, 2024, issued the notification regarding the Revision in Expiry Day of Index derivatives contracts.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The following Expiry date of the following has been revised to Last Thursday of expiry month namely: -

o BANKNIFTY monthly & quarterly contracts

o FINNIFTY monthly contracts

o MIDCPNIFTY monthly contracts

o NIFTYNXT50 monthly contracts

• The expiry day for NIFTY monthly, weekly, quarterly, and half-yearly contracts will remain unchanged.

• The revised expiry day will come into effect at the end of January 01, 2025.

• All existing contracts will have their expiry day revised to the new expiry on January 01, 2025 (EOD).

• New contracts created after the effective date will follow the updated expiry day.

• The revised expiry dates for all existing contracts will be available in the contract file generated on January 01, 2025.

• These revised expiry dates will be applicable for trading on January 02, 2025.

• Members must download updated contract files (e.g., contract.gz, spd_contract.gz) before trading on January 02, 2025.
