The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on December 03, 2024, issued a consultation paper on Online Monitoring of System Audit of Stock Brokers.
The following has been stated: -
•The consultation paper seeks public feedback on a proposal for an online monitoring and supervision mechanism for system audits of stock brokers.
•The aim is to improve audit quality, ensure auditors physically visit brokers' premises and allow audits to be tracked via a web portal.
•It also includes provisions for auditor qualifications, empanelment, and enhanced oversight by stock exchanges.
•Comments are invited until December 26, 2024.
