The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) on December 05, 2024, issued the Draft Inland Vessels (Crew and Passenger Accommodation) (First Amendment) Rules, 2024 to amend the Inland Vessels (Crew and Passenger Accommodation) Rules, 2022.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In sub-rule (1) of rule 20 of the said rules, for the figure “0.60”, the figure “0.36” shall be substituted.
• In sub-rule (3) of rule 23 of the said rules, the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely. –
“(3) Inland vessels operating on voyages of more than 15 minutes and upto 60 minutes or less need to provide seating for 50 % of passengers, in accordance with the stability requirements given in Inland Vessels (Design and Construction Rules), 2024; Provided that the motions and accelerations in all normal operation would not make standing difficult.”
• In sub-rule (6), for the figure “620”, the figure “480” shall be substituted.
• In rule 31, in sub-rule (4), for the figure “30”, the figure “60” shall be substituted.
Notice is hereby given that the said draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification, as published in the Official Gazette, are made available to the public.
