The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on September 28, 2024, issued a circular regarding retrofitting of Emission Control Devices/Equipment in DG sets.
The following has been stated: -
•The Board's orders from December 09, 2020, and May 15, 2023, mandated retrofitting DG sets of 500 KVA and 125 KVA capacities, respectively, with emission control devices (RECD) to capture at least 70% particulate matter or switch to gas-based generators. Initially, retrofitting was limited due to a lack of type-approved agencies.
•Following the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala's direction, it is clarified that DG sets meeting the revised MoEF emission standards (GSR 804(E) dated November 03, 2022) are exempt from the RECD requirement.
