The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on July 31, 2024, issued a circular regarding revised Siting Criteria and Standards for Hotmix Plants based on Amendment to Environment (Protection) Rules.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) issued the Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2023, which affect hot mix plants. Consent applications for temporary hot mix plants will be processed based on the work order, with security deposits required (Rs. 2 lakh for up to 1 year, Rs. 5 lakh for longer).
•If consent conditions are violated, the deposit will be forfeited. Existing hot mix plants must also comply with the new notification, and prior circulars and guidelines are now canceled.
