EHS ComplianceThe Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on February 18, 2024, issued clarifications regarding ensuring compliance with CPCB OM dated January 07, 2020, for petroleum Retail Outlets.

The following has been stated: -

•The Hon'ble Supreme Court's judgment exempted retail petroleum outlets from obtaining consent from SPCBs but directed SPCBs to ensure compliance with CPCB guidelines issued on January 07, 2020. 

•The Board's circular and letter emphasized adherence to distance norms (30m/50m) from schools, hospitals, and residential areas for outlets established after January 07, 2020. 

•However, if residential areas are not designated according to local laws, the siting criteria for "designated residential areas" do not apply.
