Mandatory Transponder Use:
Mode ‘A’/‘C’ or Mode ‘S’ transponders are essential for aircraft operating in Indian airspace.
Mode ‘S’ offers advanced surveillance and communication features, improving traffic and resolution advisories.
Applicability:
Aircraft >5700 kg or >30 passenger seats must have Mode ‘S’.
Smaller aircraft and helicopters must have Mode ‘A’/‘C’.
Compliance deadlines vary for commercial and general aviation.
Aircraft Address Assignment:
DGCA assigns unique, non-transferable 24-bit addresses for registered aircraft.
These addresses are crucial for airspace identification and operational efficiency.
