EHS ComplianceThe Kerala State Pollution Control Board, (KeralaSPCB), on April 06, 2024, issued a notification regarding Clarification on Distance Criteria for DG Sets in Commercial Establishments and High-Rise Buildings.

The distance criteria for DG set in commercial establishments was specified as √(kVA/2) metres in the circular cited 1". For multiple DG sets the minimum distance from all the DG sets to the nearest residence/institution shall not be less than √(kVA/2), where kVA (kilo volt ampere) is the value of the highest capacity DG set as per the circular cited 2nd. The Circular dated 10/02/2022 cited vide reference 3rd also states the distance criteria for any category of DG set shall be calculated using the formula.

In the SOP for High Rise & Other Buildings cited 4d the distance criteria for DG set to residence was specified as (VkVA)/2, by mistake and it is clarified that the distance criterion for DG set to residence specified as (VkVA)/2 in page no 17, clause (xiii) and page no 20, clause (xiv) in the SOP for High Rise & Other Buildings referred shall be replaced by which is to be read as "square root of (kVA/2).
