Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Nagaland on November 14, 2024, issued the Draft Rules for ‘The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, for Excluded Areas, Assam, 2024, in force in the State of Nagaland’ to further amend the Nagaland Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1967.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It shall extend to the whole State of Nagaland

• Rule 49(d) which states “Choice Number Booking Fee” has been substituted namely: -

“(i) The fees for reservation of available registration number mark of one’s choice shall be Rs. 5000/- which shall be valid for a period of six months.

(ii) In the event the owner or the applicant fails to produce the Motor Vehicle for registration against the Choice Number booked by him, the Choice Number shall be free for booking by any applicant including the previous applicant on first come first basis, and the fees shall be as per the conditions mentioned above”

• Rule 52 which states “No Objection Certificate Fee” the sub-rule (d) has been substituted namely: -

“The Fee for grant of “No Objection Certificate” shall be Rs. 1000/- only for all types of vehicles”
