The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on December 11, 2024, issued the Collection of Statistics Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Central Government shall designate an officer not below the rank of a Joint Secretary to the Government of India in a nodal Department dealing with statistical matters.
• The nodal officer designated by the Central Government shall perform the duties as per section 3A of the Act including coordination and supervision of statistical activities.
• The appropriate Government may appoint statistics officers, adjudicating officers and appellate authorities.
• The Collection of Statistics Rules, 2011 is hereby repealed
This has come into force on December 11, 2024.
