The Department of Labour, West Bengal on December 04, 2024, issued the notification regarding the guidelines to facilitate proper management, administration, and control of West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Fund.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Fund shall be financed wholly by the Government of West Bengal out of its own Consolidated Fund according to the requirement for successful implementation of West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Scheme, 2023.
• The sole purpose of the fund shall be to finance the welfare activities under the West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Scheme, 2023 and to receive the funds allocated from the Consolidated Fund of the State of West Bengal and make disbursement therefrom for funding different welfare activities for the migrant workers of the State as per the provisions of the scheme for its effective implementation.
• The Audit of the transactions of the Reserve Fund shall be undertaken by the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlement), West Bengal from time to time.
• The Labour Commissionerate under the Labour Department shall be responsible for compliance to the defects brought forth in the Inspection Report and submission of Replies within due time.
This shall come into force on December 08, 2024.
