Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Coal on December 16, 2024, issued a notification regarding the SHAKTI Policy for Transparent Coal Allocation to the Power Sector.

The following has been stated: -

•The SHAKTI Policy, introduced in 2017 and amended in 2019 and 2023, ensures transparent coal allocation to coal-based power-generating companies in India. It includes various mechanisms, such as Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs) and auctions, granting coal linkages to plants across the country. 

•Beneficiaries include thermal power plants, with a total capacity of 8,780 MW and linkages totalling 38.90 MTPA under multiple auction rounds. 

•The policy supports sustainable coal allocation for power generation with regional earmarks and diverse provisions.
