Industry Specific ComplianceThe Kerala Electricity Regulatory Commission, (KERC) on December 09, 2024, Kerala Electricity Tariff and Terms for Retail Supply.

A new schedule for electricity tariffs and terms, effective from December 5, 2024, to March 31, 2027, applicable to all consumers under the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited and other licensees. Key provisions include definitions and conditions for Low Tension (LT) supply, fixed charges during disconnection, and requirements for power factor improvement through capacitor installations.

LT Industrial and Agricultural consumers must install ISI-certified capacitors to avoid surcharges of 20–30%, and rebates of 5% on energy charges are offered for compliant installations. Specific tariff rules apply for common facilities in residential and mixed-use high-rise buildings, ensuring alignment with their respective consumer categories. Additional charges and compliance measures will apply for non-adherence to guidelines.
