Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, (CBIC) on December 16, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Restriction on Warehouse Operations for Solar Power Generation Goods.

The Central Government, under Section 65(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has specified that certain manufacturing processes and operations for goods imported for solar power generation projects will not be permitted in a warehouse. This restriction applies specifically when electricity is generated due to the operations of warehoused goods.

This notification, issued in the public interest, will take effect from December 17, 2024. It aims to regulate warehousing practices and operations for such imports under the provisions of the Customs Act.
