The Commission for Air Quality Management, (CAQM) on December 16, 2024, issued Implementation of Actions under Stage-IV (‘Severe+’ Air Quality) of Graded Response Action Plan in Delhi-NCR- steps to be taken.
The Hon'ble Supreme Court, in WP(C) No. 13029 of 1985 (M.C. Mehta vs. Union of India & Ors.), directed the implementation of GRAP Stage-IV measures when the AQI crosses 400. Following this directive, the Commission had earlier invoked Stage-III measures after AQI breached 350.
With the AQI reaching 401 on December 13, 2024, due to unfavorable meteorological conditions, the Sub-Committee on GRAP has now invoked Stage-IV of the GRAP with immediate effect. These measures will be in addition to actions under Stages III, II, and I, which are already in force.
