The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) on December 18, 2024, issued the Guidance document: Medical Laboratories.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The document provides guidance for medical testing laboratories on sample collection, accreditation scope, lot verification, result reporting algorithms, competency assessment, and sample stability for clinical biochemistry.
• It provides guidelines for scope preparation requiring using IQC data for %CV and MU, segregating test profiles, and specifying enzyme methodologies with appropriate testing ranges.
• It outlines guidelines for lot verification including parallel testing of new and old QC lots, calculating new means and ranges, and verifying reagent acceptability through patient samples or controls.
