The Government of Karnataka on December 18, 2024, issued the Karnataka (Mineral Rights and Mineral Bearing Land) Tax Bill, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Section 2 specifies various definitions of the terms like Mining lease and Mineral bearing land.
•Section 3 specifies the Levy and collection of tax on mineral-bearing lands.
•Section 4 specifies Levy and collection of tax on mineral rights.
•Section 5 specifies Determination and payment of tax and interest.
It shall apply to every mineral specified in Schedules I and II.
It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed in relation to different minerals.
