The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on December 19, 2024, issued a notification regarding the introduction of the Get Account Details API in Bharath Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE).
The following has been stated: -
•The "Get Account Details API" under the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) allows customers to verify if their Aadhaar number is linked to a bank account and whether subsidy payments are enabled. The process involves Aadhaar number validation via OTP, mapping to the destination bank, and retrieving account details like account number, type, and masked customer name.
•The system supports multiple scenarios, including unlinked Aadhaar or accounts not enabled for DBT.
•Banks are advised to implement the API promptly for improved customer service and digitization.
