The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, (FSSAI) on December 22, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Sample quantity of imported Vitamin D2.
Revised sampling guidelines for imported Vitamin D2 due to its high cost. Authorized Officers are directed to draw a smaller representative sample of at least 50 grams (two samples of 25 grams each) instead of the standard 500 grams specified in the Food Safety and Standards (Laboratory and Sample Analysis) Regulations, 2011. Per Regulation 9(9) of the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulation, 2017, the second portion of the sample, if found safe, must be returned to the food importer.
