The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) on December 19, 2024, notified regarding the revision of the price of certain drugs such as Thiamine as per the Annual Wholesale Price Index (WPI) @ 0.00551% increase for the year 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the NPPA has fixed ceiling prices for various medicines under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, effective from the supersession of the previous order dated March 26, 2024.
• The ceiling prices, exclusive of GST, apply to specific formulations such as Thiamine, Clarithromycin, Lignocaine, and others, with prices listed for different dosages and strengths.
• It also mentions that manufacturers not complying with the ceiling price and notes specified shall be liable to deposit the overcharged amount along with interest thereon under the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, read with the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
