The Government of Karnataka on November 15, 2024, issued the draft Karnataka Factories (Safety Audit) Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It shall apply to factories with hazardous manufacturing processes, and factories employing over 50 workers.
• Rule 3 outlines the Duties of the Occupier.
• Rule 6 outlines the provision for the grant or renewal of a certificate of recognition as a Safety Auditor.
• Rule 9 outlines the provision of a compliance report on the audit report, it states that the Occupier shall submit the Safety Audit Report and an action taken report to the Chief Inspector within 30 days of receiving the audit.
• Rule 12 states that the Karnataka Factories (Safety Audit) Rules, 2016, stand repealed.
The objections and suggestions on the draft rules shall be taken into consideration on or before December 30, 2024, and may be addressed to the Secretary to Government, Labour Department, Room No. 414, 4th Floor, Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru-560 001.
