The Government of Himachal Pradesh on December 18, 2024, notified the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.
The following has been stated-
•In section 89, in sub-section (2) after the second proviso, the following shall be added, namely:— “Provided also that the State Government may, after having due regard to the geographical location, lack of means of transportation and communication, and for administrative convenience, notify a territorial constituency for the Backward Gram Panchayats, having a population less than twenty-five thousand.”.
