The Government of Uttar Pradesh on December 23, 2024, issued a notification regarding Water Tax and Water Rates in Prayagraj.
The following has been stated: -
•Water tax in Prayagraj is 12.5% of the building's annual valuation for properties without water connections, as per the Uttar Pradesh Water Supply and Sewerage Act. If the water tax exceeds the slab rate for those with connections, the tax is collected instead.
•Water rates were increased by 7.5% annually until 2007, after which the increase was revised to 5% every three years. No further increases are planned until 2023, as per the government notification.
