The Union Territory of Lakshadweep on November 08, 2024, notified Lakshadweep District/Gram Panchayat Solid Waste (Maintenance and Management) Bye-laws, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 3 specifies various definitions of the terms like Aerobic Composting and Courtyard.
•Rule 4 specifies the Power to issue necessary directions to promote a clean and green environment.
•Rule 5 specifies preventing littering and other nuisances and ensuring “clean yard/premises/place.
•These bye-laws shall apply to every domestic, institutional, industrial, commercial, and other non-residential solid waste generator within the District/Gram Panchayat area of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
It shall come into force on November 08, 2024.
