The following has been stated: -
•The government has issued a notification allowing farmers to engage in voluntary Aadhaar authentication during the registration and procurement of food grains at minimum support price (MSP).
•This follows the approval from the Government of India under the Aadhaar Act, 2016, and is in compliance with Rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules, 2020.
•The authentication aims to verify and authenticate farmers' details to ensure transparency in the procurement process.
