EHS ComplianceThe Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) on May 28, 2024, notified regarding the prohibition on the use of streams or wells for disposal of polluting matter, etc. along the catchment/tributaries of Myntdu.

Following the Newspaper clipping for immediate action to tackle and prevent the pollution of the River Myntdu, the authorities have prohibited the disposal of polluting matter into the Myntdu River and related activities under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Key provisions include: - 

• Section 24(1)(a): Prohibits knowingly allowing pollutants to enter streams, wells, or land.

• Section 24(1)(b): Prohibits disposing of materials into streams that impede water flow or aggravate pollution.

• Section 43: Prescribes penalties, including imprisonment (1.5 to 6 years) and fines for violations.
