Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) on December 16, 2024, issued an advisory regarding the provision for Quarterly Submission of Data Regarding Rejected and Expired Food Items.

The following has been stated: -

•FSSAI is introducing a provision for FSSAI Licensed Food Manufacturers, Repackers, Relabellers, and Importers to submit quarterly data on rejected and expired food items. This includes quantities of rejected and expired products and details of their disposal or alternative use. 

•The data will be submitted through the FoSCoS system once activated, and FBOs are advised to start consolidating the information. 

•The goal is to ensure traceability of rejected/expired items to prevent them from being misused for human consumption.
