The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on January 07, 2025, issued Guidelines for Authorization of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Electronic Trading & Settlement Platform (EPRETP) Operator.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has notified amendments to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Guidelines for managing plastic waste, e-waste, waste batteries, tyre waste, and used oil, including the establishment of Electronic Trading and Settlement Platforms (EPRETP) for trading EPR certificates.
•The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will issue guidelines for authorizing agencies to operate these platforms. The amendments aim to streamline waste management, enhance recycling, and involve producers and other stakeholders in sustainable practices.
•The eligibility criteria for EPR platform operators include a proven track record, a minimum of 10 years of experience, and financial criteria, focusing on transparency in EPR certificate trading.
