The Ministry of Railways (MoR) on January 07, 2025, issued a corrigendum to the Indian Railways (Open Lines) General (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In rule 3.26, the following shall be inserted, namely: -
“Provided that fixed signals may be used if they are considered by the sanctioning authority (the Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer of the concerned Zonal Railway in the case of item (a) below, and the General Manager of the concerned Railway in the case of items (b), (c) and (d) below) to be adequate for ensuring safe working of trains, for the following purposes -
o (a) interlocking of level crossings located outside station boundaries.
o (b) Double distant signalling with corresponding changes at adjacent stations without yard remodelling,
o (c) intermediate block signalling, except in sections consisting of slip sidings and catch sidings with corresponding alterations at adjacent stations without yard remodelling, and
o (d) Automatic block signalling, except in sections having slip sidings and catch sidings with corresponding alterations at adjacent stations without guard remodelling."
