The Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers' Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) on January 01, 2025, notified regarding the registration of extract variants of crops.
The following has been stated namely: -
•The crops are Mesta (Hibiscus cannabinus L. and Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) and Hibiscus (Hibiscus L., commonly known as China Rose) were published in the Plant Variety Journal of India (PVJ), Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2024.
•The time limit for registering these varieties is set at 10 years from the publication date of the Authority's approval in the PVJ. For these Hibiscus varieties, the official publication date is January 1, 2025, marking the start of the registration period.
