The Government of Karnataka on January 10, 2025, issued the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Second Amendment) Act, 2024, to further amend the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Act, 2020.
This shall come into force on September 24, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024 (Karnataka Ordinance No. 01 of 2024) shall be repealed.
• In Section 144 (8), a new proviso shall be inserted at the end, it states that taxpayers revising property tax returns upwards will face interest and penalties as per sub-section (15), while a one-time relaxation for unpaid taxes, unassessed, and reassessed properties until November 30, 2024, includes a ₹100 yearly penalty and interest waiver, with adjustments for prior beneficiaries of similar measures.
