The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI) on January 14, 2025, notified regarding the Index Numbers of Wholesale Price in India for the Month of December 2024 (Base Year: 2011-12).
The following has been stated:
• It is stated that the annual rate of inflation based on all India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) numbers is 2.37% (provisional) for the month of December 2024 (over December 2023).
• It is stated that the Positive rate of inflation in December 2024 is primarily due to an increase in prices of food articles, manufacture of food products, other manufacturing, manufacture of textiles and non-food articles etc.
• Further, it is stated that the month over month change in WPI for the month of December 2024 stood at (-) 0.38% as compared to November, 2024.
