The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd., (MCX), on January 14, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Acceptable BIS standard for Copper under Quality Control Order, 2023.
Clearing Members of MCXCCL are informed of updated requirements following the Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued by the Ministry of Mines, effective December 1, 2024. Depositors of Copper Cathodes must ensure compliance with specified quality standards, including the use of LME-approved brands and adherence to IS-191-2007 with grade Cu-Cath-1 specifications. Additionally, goods must bear the Standard Mark under a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license. Warehouse Service Providers (WSPs) will verify compliance with these requirements during the deposit process at MCXCCL-accredited warehouses, alongside the existing standard deposit procedures.
